Well, it would appear that the US Govt missed out on an opportunity to polarize a legal, and thus, ethical use of Caller ID spoofing or Caller ID fraud.
Unfortunately, it would appear that our US Representatives sit idly by to let such fruadulant use of Caller ID continue. It’s a know fact that Caller ID spoofing has been long been used by bill collectors, PIs and law enforcement to track down their subjects.
It’s a fact that other countries have indeed outlawed Caller ID spoofing or Caller ID fraud due to the damaging potential of it’s misuse. With ever-increasing concerns of identity-theft, you would think that the big US Banks lobbyist would get on board promoting a regulation of the Caller ID system.
