Someone spoofing my phone number: Help!?

phone spoofing

Katherine W asked:

Please help me. Every few weeks, I get a call from some person who insists that they are getting repeated calls from my phone number. I didn’t call them. What’s worse, it’s not just that my number shows up in caller i.d. (I did see the ad on yahoo answers for www.spoofcard.com), but that the phone call really did come from my phone number, as they pressed whatever button it is to call someone back. I switched cell phone companies, but still get these calls. Someone told me that these spoof calls may come from creditors, but the last two people insisted this couldn’t be the case. I’d appreciate any help you can give me.
These are not people I know, I’ve never called them, they are not my friends. Their phone numbers do not show up on my phone as people I’ve called.
And my phone is a flip phone, so it can’t make calls without being opened.

I just recently became the victim of spoofing on my cell phone. I had no idea what this was until I called my cell phone provider and explained to them that I keep getting phone calls from people asking me why I called them . When I told them that I did not call them, they would repeat my cell phone number from their caller id. I tell them that I am sorry and I am not sure what is going on. In any event, my cell phone carrier told me that it is called cell phone spoofing and not to worry as I was not being charged for the calls. That really is not my concern, my concern is is the invasion of my privacy and I have no control over what the spoofer it saying or doing with my cell phone number. Scary…..does anybody know how we can prevent this from happening without changind our cell phone number. My concern about changing my number is, can they get it again. Thanks for any help you can give me.
